Fragmented Future is the first game that I developed during my A-Level course. All the art is done in ProCreate and programming in Visionaire Studio 5.
The game takes place in the year 2040. The Japanese economy is booming thanks to the development of robots; however, a huge gap has formed between the lower and upper classes in society. AI automation bots are of particular interest; this new technology is privately developed by the upper echelons of society who continue their attempt to freeze the technology available for the general public. These bots purposed as a family or personal assistant are trusted with personal information as well as mission-critical information and permissions for business. The tycoons have no doubt harnessed their entire capabilities to ease their everyday life. These influential families founded together with the company developing the bots so they can minimise leaks and maximise trust.
Yume (the main character) is working on data gathering for a patch when she has a vision. Her vision depicts many terrorist bombs going off, buildings collapsing. This scares her, and she soon reports to her boss, who dismisses her claims.
Considering the scale of the vision, she understands that she needs to find validity in the depictions if she is to worry further. Her visions have not failed to guide or warn her in the last fifteen years, and she has no reason to believe that this vision will be different. She goes on to further investigate, recruiting others to help her with this process. The first one to be reached is Eiji.
Her teammates consist of her friends who she gained at high school, and they all either have some skills at hacking or are very knowledgeable on the coding at hand. They have proven themselves in the past to Yume so she believes them to be valuable assets which will not hinder the anti-criminal operation. The recruiting process goes on slowly, but the group start operation way before it’s “complete”, mainly due to Yume’s initiative.
She begins her hacking in the company she works, trying to access private data, and begins to find some leads. She can see that there are bad security practices and a few network ports that are drastically unprotected, almost intentionally so. She manages to gain access and begins to analyse current network traffic, as well as traffic logs where she finds more irregularities.
By doing this, she discovers that someone is using the data collected in the previous update albeit she has no idea what for (data is being used by the villain to control every move of the tycoons and slowly but surely put them eventually all under her control).
You, as the player will have to stop the ongoing terrorist operation, you have discovered through your dreams. By using different hacking methods, you will find clues and traces that will lead you to the enemy. Track and capture the source.
